JKMR Foundation took the initiative of cleaning toilets in Government Schools, inspired by the Government of India programme Swachh Bharat, to address unhygienic toilets and reduce school dropouts, especially among girl students.

Programme Need

Why the Programme Was Started

Unhygienic and non-functional toilets in Government Schools create health, dignity, and attendance issues for students. The concern is more serious for girl students, where lack of proper sanitation can contribute to school dropouts.

Implementation

Mobile Cleaning Truck Model

A mobile cleaning truck equipped with a water tank, pressure pump, and cleaner visits schools to clean toilets. The initiative began in July 2016 with JKMR Foundation's own truck and expanded across different mandals through JKMR Foundation funding, donor support, CSR partnerships, and project-specific support.

  • The first truck was started by JKMR Foundation in July 2016.
  • Designed for regular toilet cleaning, not a one-time cleaning activity.
  • Presently, 17 operational trucks cover 520 Government Schools every working day.

Monitoring and Reporting

Monitoring and Reporting

The Swachh Schools initiative will be monitored through live tracking, school-level verification, and regular field reporting.

  • Live monitoring of all Swachh Vehicles will be enabled through a GPS tracking system.
  • All Swachh Vehicle visits will be recorded in attendance registers signed by the Principal or an authorised person at the school.
  • Daily odometer registers will be maintained for all Swachh Vehicles and signed by the person in charge.
  • Field visits will be conducted at periodical intervals for review and monitoring.

2016

The Swachh Schools initiative began in July 2016 with JKMR Foundation's own mobile sanitation truck, initially covering Government Schools in Chevella Mandal.

2017

Sutherland donated one Swachh School Sanitation Truck for Shabad Mandal, supporting sanitation in over 15 Government Schools.

2017

JKMR Foundation added one self-funded truck to expand the school sanitation work.

2019

JKMR Foundation added one self-funded truck for Chevella Mandal.

2020

JKMR Foundation added four self-funded trucks for Shankerpally, Moinabad, Kotepally, and Gandeed mandals.

2023

PNB, through CSR support, donated two trucks for Tandoor and Gandeed mandals.

2024

JKMR Foundation added two trucks for Yalal and Marpally mandals.

2025

JKMR Foundation added two Swachh Trucks for Dharur and Kulkacherla mandals, taking the total to 11 trucks covering 330 schools at that stage.

2025

Five Swachh Trucks supported by Indian Railway Finance Corporation Ltd. (IRFC) under its CSR initiative were added for Basheerabad, Mominpet, Pargi, Pudur, and Vikarabad mandals.

2026

Presently, 17 operational trucks visit daily to clean toilets in 520 Government Schools across Chevella Parliament Constituency.
